Saint Mary's Murals
In 1999 Gwyneth Leech won a commission to design murals and paintwork for the interior of Saint Mary's Episcopal Cathedral in Glasgow, Scotand. These are the first extensive images of the finished artwork available on the web.

The first parts of the commission- three murals depicting creation and the trinity, as well as the decoration of the ceiling of the central dome (the Crossing) - were executed in the Spring of 1990 as part of an extensive renovation of the cathedral interior.

A mural of the Annunciation and decorative paintwork covering the East wall of the cathedral, above the high altar, were completed in the late summer of 1990.

Starting in 1996 Gwyneth painted canvas panels for the Saint Anne's chapel, located to the left of the high altar. Three main panels, 20 feet high by 6 feet wide depict scenes from the Easter story, set in a contemporary public park.

Two smaller panels flank the East window of the chapel - Mary to the left and Elizabeth to the right - based on the Magnificat.

The interior and exterior renovation of the cathedral, begun in 1999, was completed in 2001. The photos here show the interior in February 2008.
